旭山動物園は「行動展示」として特徴的な施設がたくさんありますが、飼育員さんが動物に指示して行動させるようなことはありません。
どう行動するかは、あくまでも動物の気分次第であり、お客さん側としては運次第。
しかし、動物の自然な動きだからこその驚きや感動があります。
子供はもちろん、大人も楽しめます。
というか、大人の方が楽しめるかも。
動物たちの様子をのんびり気長に楽しみましょう。
Asahiyama Zoo has many unique facilities that are known for their "behavioral exhibits." However, the zookeepers do not give instructions to the animals to do anything.
How they behave is entirely up to the animal's mood, and for the visitors it's a matter of luck.
However, it is the animals' natural movements that are surprising and moving.
Adults can enjoy them, as well as children.
In fact, adults may enjoy them more.
Take your time and enjoy watching the animals.

個人的な感想ですが、旭山動物園の動物たちはお客さんのことをよく見ているような気がします。
そして、動物たちの行動によってお客さんが驚いたり歓声を上げたりするのを見て楽しんでいるような気もします。
動物たちが実際にそんなことを考えてはいないでしょうが、そう思えてしまうくらいお客さんへのファンサービスが多いです。
This is just my personal opinion, but it feels like the animals at Asahiyama Zoo are keeping a close eye on the visitors.
It also seems like they enjoy seeing the visitors get surprised or cheered by the animals' actions.
I don't think the animals actually think that way, but there is so much fan service they provide to the visitors that it does seem that way.

ぺんぎん館は、屋外と屋内に観覧場所があります。
屋外では、１ｍくらいの超至近距離でペンギンに会えます。
施設の屋内へ入るとに、ペンギンのプールの中を通っていく水中トンネルがあり、周りをペンギンが泳いでいきます。
青空の元で泳いでいるペンギンを見上げると、まさに「空を飛んでいる」ように見えます。
The Penguin House has both outdoor and indoor viewing areas.
Outdoors, you can meet the penguins from up close, about one meter away.
Once inside the facility, there is an underwater tunnel that goes through the penguin pool, with the penguins swimming all around them.
Looking up at the penguins swimming under the blue sky, they truly look like they are "flying in the sky."

あざらし館には、旭山を象徴する名物施設「マリンウェイ」があります。
屋内の部屋のド真ん中に円柱があり、アザラシが上下に泳いでいきます。
人間がアザラシを見る施設ですが、アザラシ達も人間を興味深く見ています。
屋外では、のんびり泳いでいるアザラシのプールを眺めることができます。
The Seal House is home to the Marine Way, a famous facility that is a symbol of Asahiyama.
There is a cylinder in the middle of the indoor room and seals swim up and down on it.
The facility is for people to watch the seals, but the seals also watch the humans with interest.
Outside, you can watch the pool where the seals swim leisurely.

広い敷地をのんびり歩くホッキョクグマ。
タイミングが良ければ、プールへ豪快に飛び込む様子や、オモチャで遊んでいる様子、などを見ることができます。
Polar bears stroll leisurely through the spacious grounds.
If you're lucky, you can see them diving into the pool, playing with toys, and more.

かば館の一番の注目ポイントは、屋内のプールです。
プールの中を見られる場所がありますので、カバが泳いだり水中散歩する様子を見れます。
飛び込む時の豪快さ、浮上する時の身軽さ、初めて見るカバの動きを楽しめます。
The most eye-catching feature of the Hippo House is the indoor pool.
There is a spot where you can see into the pool, so you can watch the hippos swimming and walking underwater.
You can enjoy seeing hippos' movements for the first time, such as their boldness when they dive in and their agility when they surface.

お客さんの通路の頭上に吊り橋があり、レッサーパンダーが渡っていきます。
そして、通路を挟んでレッサーパンダ舎の反対側にある木の上で寝ていることがよくあります。
レッサーパンダ舎の前にいるのに全然違う変なほうへカメラを向けている人がいたら、そのカメラの先にレッサーパンダがいる可能性が高いです。
There is a suspension bridge above the visitors' walkway which the red pandas cross.
They often sleep in trees on the opposite side of the walkway to the red panda enclosure.
If you see someone standing in front of the red panda enclosure pointing their camera in a completely strange direction, there's a good chance that a red panda is in front of their camera.

アムールトラの親子が暮らしており、交代で外に出てきます。
アムールトラの子供は隣のライオンと柵越しに遊んでいることもあります。
A mother and her child Amur tiger live here, and take turns going outside.
The Amur tiger cubs sometimes play with the neighboring lions across the fence.

ライオンの家族が一緒に暮らしています。
2024年現在は、父ライオン、母ライオン、２頭の娘、の４頭がいます。

ユキヒョウはお客さんの頭上が定位置で、気持ち良さそうにお昼寝しています。
お腹の毛並みや手足の肉球をじっくり観察できるのは、旭山動物園ならではの楽しみ方です。
The snow leopard's usual spot is above the visitors' heads, where he looks very comfortable as he takes an afternoon nap.
Being able to closely observe the fur on its belly and the pads on its paws is an experience that can only be had at Asahiyama Zoo.

園内の他の施設のような面白い仕掛けなどは特にありませんが、森の中の様子が再現されており、そこにたたずむオオカミがとにかくカッコイイ！
園内放送に合わせて遠吠えすることが多いので、園内放送が始まったらオオカミの森に行ってみましょう。

There aren't any particularly interesting gimmicks like in the other facilities in the park, but the inside of a forest is recreated and the wolves standing there are just so cool!
The wolves often howl in time with the park's announcements, so make sure to head to Wolf Forest when the announcement starts.

おらんうーたん館の屋外施設は大きく２ヶ所に分かれています。
高い柱が立っていてその間にロープが張られており、その高さはなんと１７メートル！
オランウータンが渡っていきます。
滅多に見られない超レアな光景です。
The outdoor facilities of the Orangutan House are roughly divided into two areas.
There are tall pillars with ropes stretched between them, an astounding 17 meters high!
The orangutans are crossing them.
It's an extremely rare sight that you don't see very often.

おらんうーたん館の隣にあります。
メディア等で注目されることがほとんどないのであまり知られていませんが、ものすごく面白いです！
高さ１４メートルの鉄塔に「雲梯」があり、テナガザルが人間の頭上を飛び跳ねるように軽々と渡っていきます。
ずっと見ていると首が痛くなります(笑)
The Gibbon House is located next to the Orangutan House.
It is not well known because it rarely gets any attention in the media, but it is incredibly fascinating!
There is a "monkey ladder" on a 14-meter-high steel tower, and the gibbons easily cross it as if they are jumping over people's heads.
If you watch for too long, your neck will hurt (lol).

冬になって園内に雪が積もると、ペンギンの散歩が行われます。
列を作ってヨチヨチ歩いていくペンギンがとても可愛い！
散歩に出るのはキングペンギンがメインですが、ジェンツーペンギンも数羽だけ出てくることがあり、ジェンツーペンギンは列に入らずに自由に動き回って、それがまた可愛いです。
子供のペンギンも出てくることもあります。真っ黒い真ん丸のペンギンはキングペンギンの子供です。
When snow piles up in the zoo in winter, the penguins take a walk.
They are so cute as they totter along in a line!
Most of the penguins that go out for walks are king penguins, but sometimes a few gentoo penguins come out as well. The gentoo penguins roam freely without joining the line, which is also very cute.
Sometimes baby penguins come out as well. The pitch black, round penguins are baby king penguins.
